THE BAREFOOT QUEEN

Gallery: Gold and Sacrifice (Symbolism) · Author: Adrian Thomas

Desire as strategy: gold, a board, and a queen who never loses.

-

DESCRIPTION:

The Barefoot Queen turns chess into a ritual and the body into strategy. The figure lies on the board as if governing it: there is no defeat in the posture, there is control. The golden veil does not cover; it consecrates. And gold—present in the scene as both material and atmosphere—functions as a symbol of status, sacrifice, and silent power.

The black and white pieces construct an inevitable duality: dominance and surrender, calculation and desire, risk and reward. At the center, the queen—barefoot—becomes a metaphor: seduction is not an accident, it is a move. Beauty is not ornamentation, it is authority.

This artwork belongs to the Gold and Sacrifice wing, where Santograil transforms the body into an emblem and pleasure into symbolic language. A piece designed for spaces where the gaze does not pass by: it lingers.

  • simple frames in matte black, natural wood, or off-white
  • LED lighting, no direct sunlight
  • a presentation where the artwork can visually breathe

For artworks printed on paper, framing with acrylic or UV-protective glass and adequate separation between the artwork and the protective surface is suggested.
