Curator's Message

The works of SANTOGrail · Fine Art & Literary House have been conceived for sustained, intimate, and powerful visual reading. It's not just about printing an image, but about allowing the work to acquire presence, breath, and scale within the space.

For this reason, our maison suggests a series of curatorial exhibition criteria that favor contemplation, visual fidelity, and the presence of the piece. These guidelines do not limit the work or supersede the judgment of the collector, printer, or framer. They are house recommendations for a better appreciation of the master archive.

 

Recommended Exhibition Dimensions

 

Larger formats may be technically viable depending on the lab, medium, viewing distance, and printing process, but the maison's curator considers up to 60 × 80 cm as their preferred exhibition range.

 

Recommended Medium

For a better appreciation of the work, we suggest:

• high-weight fine art paper
• professional quality art canvas
• pigment ink printing
• lab with professional color management

 

Frame and Presentation

As a general curatorial criterion, we suggest a clean, sober, and quiet presentation. The artwork should dominate the space, not compete with its frame.

 

Curator's Recommendations

• Matte black: for works with strong contrast, intense drama, or symbolic depth
• Natural wood: for works with organic breath, warm tones, and atmospheric presence
• Off-white or sober ivory: for bright spaces and pieces that require more visual breathing room
• Floating box: for more contemporary and contained presentations

With or without glass?

For works printed on fine art paper, the maison suggests framing with acrylic or UV-protected glass, with adequate separation between the artwork and the protective surface.

For works with a canvas-like reading or a more textural-pictorial presence, the curator favors an open presentation or a floating box that better preserves the visual presence of the surface.

Suggested Lighting

Lighting radically changes the perception of a work. We recommend careful, directed, and stable light.

Curator's Suggestions

• LED lighting
• absence of direct sunlight
• contained, non-aggressive light
• warm to neutral temperature
• lighting angles that avoid unnecessary reflections

The work should not be bathed in light; it should be revealed by it.
