Description:

The Cup of Fire belongs to the Wound and Ornament wing, where beauty is marked by intensity, material, gesture, and rupture.

The work features an adult couple in front of the pyramids of Egypt, surrounded by a fire of great pictorial force. The female figure dominates the scene with a frontal, sensual, and monumental presence. In one hand, she holds a cup of dark wine; behind her, a man appears as a contained force, a protective presence, or a silent accomplice in the combustion surrounding them.

The pictorial current of reference is neo-expressionism, with a contemporary reading of the body, fire, and the monumental landscape. The visible impasto, violent brushstrokes, warm tones, deep shadows, and gestural flames transform the composition into a scene of extreme, but not vulgar, desire.
